The Stella Cat Hotel

Welcome

The Stella Cat Hotel opened in April 2023. This is a custom built cattery, providing the standard of accomodation and care we would want for our own cats in our absence.
Located within our home, right here at Aldinga Beach, in South Australia.

We now offer an optional “extra” to our customers whose cats may be anxious and afraid in unfamiliar environments, or become defensive and aggressive due to other cats being in residence. Having personally tested this product on various cats, that we know to be scared and/or defensive when staying with us previously, we can hand on heart say that this makes them more comfortable and happier during their stay.
The product is a calming collar, produced by “Gentle Paws”. If you wish to add one of these collars for your cat’s happiness and wellbeing while in our care, please let us know when you book. There will be a $20 fee for the collar, we shall ask you to apply the new collar when you arrive at the cattery with your cat for their stay.

A big thankyou to all of our customers to date, who have trusted us to take care of your beloved cats while you enjoyed well earned holidays, moved home etc.
It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know your cats.

Email or Telephone to make a booking for your cat.

We appreciate that you probably want to see the cattery first hand before making your decision to board your cats with us, so we are more than happy for you to come and have a look at our facilities. Please contact us to arrange a day/time to come and take a look. We look forward to showing you around.

Below are images of and details about the cattery.

Cat Cabins

Single cabins are fully carpeted, with three levels giving your cat approximately three square meters of floor space.

Double cabins are fully carpeted, with six levels giving your cats approximately six square meters of floor space.

All the cabins include a large robust scratching pole with interactive wooden base with balls. They also contain bedding & small toys throughout, food & water at an elevated level and a large litter tray at the base level.

Inside of Cattery

The cattery room is within a brick-built building with a tiled roof, fully insulated to keep out the cold/heat. The floor is covered with carpet & rugs to keep it cosy and homely, which makes for a good play area should the weather be too bad to go outside or if your cat prefers to play inside, (they will always have the choice to play in or out, they will never be forced outside if they are not ready for it).

The television within the cattery room plays wildlife documentaries from Netflix for the majority of the day, should your cat enjoy a bit of chillout time in front of the TV.
At night a speaker within the cattery room plays quiet soothing music, to put your cat at ease while stars glow on the ceiling to give them a little wonderment.

Security cameras, smoke alarm and fire extinguisher are fitted within the cattery room for your cats protection. The cattery has it’s own reverse cycle heating and cooling so that we can keep your cats cool in the searing summer heat and cosy on those chilly winter nights.

We believe we are ready to deal with any eventuality!

Enclosed Outside Space

The outside space is fully enclosed so that your cats are safe and secure. During the sunny Summer months there is a large shade sail installed, to protect the playing cats from the harsh sun rays.
The area is covered with a security camera to ensure your cat is safe.

There is cat friendly planting in the flower bed and pots. There are several low level pots containing cat grass for your cat to nibble on during outside sessions if they wish. Cat toys are moved out into the area for the cats to enjoy when the weather is dry enough. Items are added and replaced as we come across bigger and better things to keep your cats fully engaged.

The Penthouse Suite – For Multiple Cat Families

The Penthouse Suite was a new addition to the cattery around the middle of 2025. We have found that we now have a few customers who, much like ourselves, have multiple cat households. When the cats come on their holidays it is a conundrum to decide who should bunk with who, as we only allow a maximum of three cats in our double cabins and one cat in the singles, for their own comfort and wellbeing.

The Penthouse Suite can accommodate families of cats from four cats upwards. It contains a myriad of scratching poles, toys, beds, chairs and has a lovely view of the birds in the garden through the oversized picture window. There is also a television which runs Netflix nature documentaries all day, for those cats who enjoy a bit of background sound and/or visual stimulation. The wooden floor stays pretty cool in the Summer months so the cats can stretch out on a cool surface, during the Winter cooler months this is mostly covered with plush rugs, keeping the room cosy. The room has an independent variable speed ceiling fan, also a reverse cycle air-conditioning vent linked to our home system, therefore this room can be kept at a comfortable temperature all year round. Food, water and litter boxes are set up in the room, the quantity of these varies depending upon the number of cats in residence.

There is a separate cat garden directly outside the patio doors to the Penthouse Room, therefore the cats that are guests in this room generally have all day access to this secure outside area. This area of garden is undercover, unlike the main cat garden, so can be used in wet and hot weather, staying dry and cool.

When we do not have cats staying in the Penthouse, this cat garden is used as a second garden to exercise the cats staying in the main cattery room.
