Stella Cat Hotel
Overview
The Stella Cat Hotel is located within our own home. We have converted our garage into a room which contains the cat cabins.
Also part of our garden has been securely enclosed to allow an outside play area for the visiting cats.
Being located within our own home means there will always be someone in residence overnight.
Cat Cabins
These come in two sizes, one size for single cats and a larger size for multiple cats from the same household that are happy to live together (three cats maximum). Cabins are cage free, instead they consist of a private room with a Perspex door at the front, allowing the cats to see out easily while feeling safe in their own private space.
Cattery Room
This contains some entertainment and relaxation devices, that are shared by the cats, while safely within their own cabins.
There is a television which runs wildlife programs during the daytime. At night there is low lighting and calming music plays quietly. “Happy” pheromones are diffused into the air, these are a synthetic version of the pheromones given off by your cat when they rub their face and chin. The comforting lighting, sound and scent will help them settle down and have a peaceful night.
Early in 2024 we had a reverse cycle heating & cooling system fitted within the cattery room. With this we can ensure your cats are kept cool in the searing Summer heat and warm & cosy on those chilly Winter nights.
Outside Space
The secure outside area has a raised flower bed and some large plant pots, all containing cat friendly planting. We have included several containers of cat grass for nibbling, to aid digestion and we have cat mint & catnip plants in the main flower bed.
The area is slabbed, however this has been mainly covered in astroturf so that the cats can choose their preferred underfoot feel, while getting some outside time.
This area contains litter trays, scratching poles, multilevel climbing areas and comfy sitting places. It is also equipped with a selection of toys to play with, (catnip included for extra fun).
All outside time is supervised and cats will be taken out individually, or in their family group if from the same household.
There will be no mingling between the feline guests from different households.
About Us
At the Stella Cat Hotel, my husband and myself are animal lovers through and through. Cats have always been a huge part of our lives, both in Australia and back in the UK before we emigrated, we would not be without them.
Over the years we have had several beautiful pet cats of our own, currently we have three pampered boys, Fu, Chu and Wilf!
All of our cats have come from either; rescue associations, been found by us in unpleasant situations such as dumped in skips, born wild and stuck between pallets etc. or have literally just turned up on our doorstep.
For many years I worked as a Veterinary Nurse and during that time rescued twelve lovely cats, they were all destined for euthanasia through no fault of their own, they were just unwanted. All lived out their lives with me, happy and content getting the love, care and attention they deserved.
